Sin of Abortion

There is something incredibly macabre about dismembering a human being. Such gruesome visuals are often used in movies to shock the senses but when it is real, it sickens civil society. Still more cruel and inhumane, like the mean little child tearing the appendages from an insect, is the hideous practice of pulling an unborn human being from his or her mother’s womb a piece at a time; it is the pinnacle of barbarity. Worse, the severed limbs and body parts are then collected in a stainless steel bowl to ensure that every piece of the child has been removed. What a repulsive picture! Yet, in our supposedly civilized society, grisly procedures such as this are being performed in the millions.

God said that Canaan vomited out its inhabitants because they sacrifice to the Ammonite god, Moloch (Leviticus 18:28). In a hollowed out, brazen statue, glowing hot from a raging, internal fire, the god Moloch received precious little babies who died screaming and frying alive in the idol’s upturned, outstretched hands. To “pass through the fire to Moloch” was to “profane the name of your God” (Leviticus 18:21).

How can a nation claim to be Christian while allowing this evil to perpetuate? We stand condemned and deserve God’s rejection with the continued tolerance of abortion. And, all the lip service of “one nation under God” and “in God we trust” will not erase the silent screams that ought to haunt our every waking moment. Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34). Be proactive; be pro-life.
